The City of Leeds

Leeds is a bustling, vibrant and forward-looking city, situated at the very heart of England. With over 717,000 people living in the Metropolitan District of the city (the second largest of any in England), Leeds has all the right ingredients to make it an ideal place to live. It is the UK's fastest growing city with 91% of residents agreeing that Leeds provides a great quality of life. What, then, is the pull of Leeds? The Jewish community mainly lives in Moortown, Alwoodley, and surrounding areas. These affluent suburbs in the North of Leeds provide a pleasant living environment with a wealth of local resources - Jewish and non-Jewish. You can take advantage of a variety of local synagogues and minyanim, shop at the kosher stores and local supermarkets, and enjoy the local bars and social scene. The 'Jewish area' is only a short car or bus ride away from the city centre, where you can enjoy over five miles of shopping streets! The city centre is also home to a vast array of business (especially in the areas of media, legal services and manufacturing) as well as six universities.
