PEARLS

PEARLS is the mikvah committee responsible for the running and upkeep of the ladies Mikvah. Standing for 'Personal Education and Religious Learning Schemes', they organise fundraising functions and provide education about Mikvah to different sections of the community e.g. Bat Chayil classes, women's groups etc.

PEARLS aim to train those who already use the mikvah as educators who can reach out to women not yet fully aware of the importance of the mitzvah of Taharat Hamishpacha (family purity). It hopes to attract those women who, for various reasons, have not attended mikvah since their wedding. Another vital part of the committee's work to encourage brides to continue with mkivah throughout their marriage.

They also provide a “wedding pack” to all newly married couples who are married under orthodox auspices and re to be resident in Leeds. This pack consist of a discount card, travel candlesticks, information leaflets, Rakusen's food pack & cookery book, “Really Jewish Food Guide” and Leeds Jewish Representative Council Year Book.
